Staring at the stars:


The sand
Under my feet
I take a handful
And let it
Seep through my fingers
Wishing the thoughts
Could slip away too
I can hear the waves
Washing up on the shore
Then going back
And again
Over and over
As the sun sets
And leaves us in the dark
We stare up at the stars
The sand lumpy
Like a bad memory
Under us
How can we leave all this beauty
Behind us?
As if it was never there
To begin with
I wish that every day
Was like this
And at night
Lay under the stars
Watching the fireworks
Like random thoughts
In the distance
Breaking up the darkness
Letting light seep in
As if to say
Don’t be sad
No matter
What happens
In the future
What happened
In the past
What’s happening
In the present
You’ll always have the memories
Of what was
