I actually got interested in these books because of The Golden Compass movie and I liked the movie very much. I just recently finshed The Golden Compass book and I loved it. I thought it was very good and I think it's sad that in the movie they left out a lot of parts that were in the book.
Very soon I am going to be starting on The Subtle Knife. I can't wait to start reading it and find out what happens. Has anyone else read these books? |

I've read a bit of The Subtle Knife though I honestly couldn't follow much of the story and didn't really like it enough to finish it. However, that might simply be because I never read the first book >_>

I honestly don't know how they are evil. I know some people think they are about killing God, but they really aren't and people would know that if they took the time to read the books ,or at least read up about the books and find out the story. |

I've read them all. I think they are good enough books, but I think where the controversy comes in is that the author is an outspoken atheist. I don't think that makes them evil; I just don't believe he is right.
Mostly I am irked that he bashes the Narnia books

I won't comment on the religion thing, but the book was well-written, and I enjoyed it.
